Introduction

Ecology and Sandland Vegetation Research Group is affiliated to State Key Laboratory of Vegetation and Environmental Change, Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Prof. Zhenying Huang is the leader of this new-built innovation team.Our interest is plant physiological mechanisms especially on seed development, dormancy, germination, and seedling growth and development in response to variable environments based on physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. One aim of this lab studies population regeneration, adaption and evolution of seed traits, plant life history strategies and its response to variable environment in dryland relevant to seed ecology. In addition, despite sandland vegetation contain many resource species, such as Sabina vulgaris, Hippophae rhamnoides, Astragalus variabilis etc., sandland vegetation are ecologically fragile. Therefore, our another interest is collections, exploitation of sandy plant species and experimental demonstration of Optimized Eco-productive Paradigm.
